Nach langjähriger Pause auf Grund von internen Streitigkeiten und mit beinahe komplett neuer Besetzung melden sich Erben der Schöpfung anno 2009 endlich mit neuem Material zurück. Narben der Zeit enthält eine gelungene Symbiose aus düsterer Elektronik und metallischen Elementen und stellt somit eine konsequente Weiterentwicklung des bereits auf dem Debutalbum Twilight (2001) geprägten Stils dar. Neben Altbewährtem gibt es aber auch einige Neuerungen: Anstatt Sabine Dünsers glockenhellem Sopran ertönt nun Dina Falks dunkles, einschmeichelndes Organ und windet sich unaufhaltsam in die Gehörgänge. Neben härteren und durchaus tanzbaren Kompositionen (Jane Churm, Krähenauge) besticht besonders die Ballade Homeless durch ihre Fragilität und wunderschöne Melodieführung. Insgesamt präsentieren Erben der Schöpfung mit Narben der Zeit ein gelungenes, vielfältiges Album, mit dem sie sicherlich viele alte Fans zurück- und diverse neue dazugewinnen können.
Negatief
Was lange währt, wird endlich gut – selten war eine Standardphrase so treffend wie im Fall des zweiten Erben der Schöpfung Werkes „Narben der Zeit“. Geschlagene ach Jahre musste man auf den Nachfolger von „Twilight“ warten, jetzt ist er endlich da. Und man kommt sich vor wie ins alte Millennium zurückversetzt, klingen Erben auch 2009 noch wie „in guten alten Zeiten“ – mal elektronisch-wavig, mal düster-metallisch, mal bombastisch. Mehr als einmal fühlt man sich in die großen Zeiten von Bands wie L’ame Immortelle, Clan of Xymox oder Flowing Tears zurückversetzt. Besonders das Clubtaugliche „Der tote See“ oder die getragene Klavierballade „Homeless“ sind Highlights, die sofort ins Ohr gehen und es mit jedem neuen Durchlauf sogar schaffen, noch mehr zu wachsen.

Female-Fronted Gothic Metal ist nicht tot, auch wenn viele Scheiben der letzten Jahre die Taschen voler Friedhofserde hatten. Denn ERBEN DER SCHÖPFUNG melden sich stolze ach Jahre nach dem Debüt „Twilight“ zurück und haben auch mit neuem Line-Up um Bandgründer OLIVER FALK nichts an Energie eingebüßt. Die Rechnung aus treibender Elektronik, Metal-Riffs und genertypischem Bombast geht erneut auf und offenbart symbiotische Spannungsbögen, von deren anfänglichen Sperrigkeit man sich nicht aufs Glatteis führen lassen sollte. Die epischen Arrangements verweilen nie an der profanen Oberfläche, was die Songs zwar weniger ohrwurmlastig, dafür umso nachhaltiger erstrahlen lässt. DINA FALKs Stimme gleitet betörend durch die Kompositionen und traut sich gelegentlich auch gelungene, dreckige Ausreißer aus dem Engelscharakter. Starkes Comeback!

Satte acht Jahre nach dem Debüt „Twilight“ hört man mal wieder was von den ERBEN DER SCHÖPFUNG, oder besser gesagt von ERBEN-Gründer Oliver Falk. Denn nach internen Problemen, noch vor Veröffentlichung des zweiten Albums, machte der Rest der Band und das damalige Management (Alex Krull) unter dem Namen der ersten ERBEN DER SCHÖPFUNG-Single „Elis“ weiter. Oliver Falk blieben aber zumindest die Namensrechte. Und unter dieser Firmierung eröffnet der Keyboarder nun neben seiner bisherigen Band WELTENBRAND eine neues Kapitel unter den hoffentlich nicht zu selbstbezogenen Titel „Narben der Zeit“. Dabei setzen die ERBEN DER SCHÖPFUNG weiterhin auf eine Mixtur aus Gothic, fetten Gitarren und elektronischen Elementen, meist in Form von Techno-Beats, sowie engelsgleichen Gesang (Dina Falk) und kreieren so ihren melancholischen Gothic Metal. Im Vergleich zum Erstling geht man dabei zwar einen Tick deftiger und mit mehr Tempo ran, Gesang und Keyboards nehmen den Songs aber dessen ungeachtet öfters mal etwas der gewollten Power. Mit der nicht ganz kitschfreien, aber gut arrangierten Ballade „Homeless“, dem mit Growls versehene, zum Teil atmosphärisch trägem EBM-Track „Leaving“ (auch die Single) und dem harten Banger „Krähenauge“ seien mal ein paar typische Songs zum Reinhören der Zielgruppe anempfohlen. Einen morbiden Song in Folge von „Niemand kennt den Tod“ oder „Doch sie wartet vergebens“ welche die ERBEN DER SCHÖPFUNG damals in die Nähe der erfolgreichen THEATRE OF TRAGEDY rückten bietet das 2009er-Album leider nicht. Die Lichtensteiner ERBEN DER SCHÖPFUNG dürften aber trotzdem sicher viele Schwarzkittel erfreuen, ohne dabei einen Innovationspreis zu gewinnen - „Narben der Zeit“ ist nämlich nicht immer bis ins Detail spannend - dürfte aber gut auf den Tanzflächen funktionieren. Hailing from Lichtenstein Erben de Schöpfung have been in existence since 2000 and have just released their second full-length CD titled "Narben der Zeit" and it features 10-songs and 56-minutes worth of some pretty good goth/electronic metal with an emphasis on melody. Usually whenever this band is mentioned, it is in conjunction with fellow countrymen Elis, since Elis includes several former members of Erben der Schöpfung, but this band is good enough to stand on their own and the music contained on "Narben der Zeit" is a testament to that. "Frequency" is the first track and it combines the heaviness of metal with modern electronic sounds, it is a good opener that is very catchy. The band follow that up with the track "Jane Churm", a good melodic track that sets the right tempo and is one of the absolute highlights. The third track "Homeless" slows things down a notch. It is a stirring ballad and the vocals of Dina Falk are nothing short of breathtaking on this one. The song also feature some nice orchestration and it has a different tone than the other songs on this CD, making it another track that definitely stands out. "Der Tote See" speeds things up a bit and brings back the electronic elements. Other highlights include: "Leaving", "Locked", "Your Lullabies" and "Twisted" closes the album. It's amazing to me that Erben der Schöpfung have been around for as long as they have, yet still have gone relatively unnoticed. This band has a lot to offer the metal world and after listening to their newest output "Narben der Zeit" one can only hope that they get the attention and support that they so richly deserve.

Erben der Schopfung's 2001 debut 'Twilight' has a pride of place in my cd collection. The band were then fronted by the late Sabine Dunser, who then went on to front Elis, before her untimely death. Unfortunately, to put it mildly, problems arose in the camp in those early days, and there were fallouts, certain people behaving out of turn, court actions etc. I could make a film, but I won't! In 2005, mastermind Oliver Falk re formed the band (boy, am I glad he did!), and we now fast forward towards the end of 2009, when 'Narben Der Zeit' has been released. Fronted by the Weltenbrand lass, Dina Falk (who I must thank for sending me this promo), this band has now upped the ante with this release. It is heavier, it is more metallic but with some awesome splashes of Electro and Techno to spice things up a little along the way. The opening salvo of 'Frequency' and 'Jane Churm' get things underway, before the jaw dropping 'Homeless' slows things down. I like this release, but I have always been partial to a little electro/techno, and when this is mixed with some goth, rock and metal, it is near heaven for me! Lovely stuff. 'Der tote See' speeds things up again, and if one is unable to tap their feet to any tracks on this release, then you must have a serious hearing problem, or you are just plain miserable. Check out the ultra cool 'Freeze My Soul' as another example of an awesome tune. To be honest, this is a splendid release, and I just want to wish Oliver, Dina and the gang all the best with it. I would like to see some publicity over here with this record. If Enter Shikari can do it here with their style of Techno Metal, then I am sure Erben der Schopfung can! Erben Der Schöpfung is a band hailing from Liechtenstein and signed to Mystic Of Soul Records (M.O.S). After the "Twilight"-album now comes "Erben Der Schöpfung". Mystic Of Soul Records got some recognition in a former life by having released the very first album of L'Âme Immortelle and other bands like Ice Ages, Sanguis Et Cinis and Welten Brand. Oliver Falk who founded this label was involved in Welten Brand while he set up Erben Der Schöpfung in the late 90s. Nearly 8 years after their debut-cd now comes a 2nd chapter of Erben Der Schöpfung. This album might be easily seen and considered as their real debut. "Narben Der Zeit" can be defined a regular gothic-metal release. The typical female 'classical' trained vocalist is a rather usual element for this type of music while the more into metal sounding guitar parts and fast drum sections are creating a kind of delighting opposite. I like the way some songs are refined by piano/keyboard keys. "Freeze My Soul" is a real noticeable track in this style and I especially want you to pay attention to the harmonies between guitar parts and electronics here. This is the kind of song that can bring the band into the spotlight, but "Narben Der Zeit" definitely has more to offer. "Der Tote See" reveals an unexpected gothic-pop approach while "Your Lullabies" alternates 'dry' vocal parts à la Sara Noxx with the usual 'classical' way of singing. Both songs show a lot of diversity. Metal addicts will be more pleased by the heavier speed rhythmic of "Krahenauge". Without saying that this band is setting the world alight, their album doesn't sound like the usual average release in the style. Let's keep an eye on this band and see what they are capable of. This novel release from Erben der schöpfung kicks of with “Frequency” a song which balances female vocals with volumnous whispers as well as electric sounds. A song displaying certainly their own sound. The second track is more chaotic than the first one, and contains heavy guitars to set the tone. Hereafter follow a balad and a electro medieval track, the first tracks of the album really show what kind of variation this band is capable of. The remaining tracks are less specifically defined but contain a nice mix of the different tunes heard so far. The whole album contains a mix between the gothic metal heard so often and the slightly less popular EBM genre. This creates a feeling of novelty and uniqueness for this band. After their first album it took a while for the second one, but is was worth the wait. Certainly hope to hear more from this band and look forward to more bands experimenting by combining EBM and metal.
